BRC is one of New York City's largest providers of housing and services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Founded in 1971 by a group of recovering alcoholics living in poverty in the Bowery’s infamous flophouses, these individuals had hope, and a firm belief that better days lay ahead.
BRC serves nearly 13,000 individuals each year, operating more than 30 programs throughout the greater metropolitan area. The organization’s robust continuum of housing and services includes over 3,700 units of transitional and permanent housing; outreach and case management programs; and substance use and medical services.
