The Field Applications Engineer - MCU is responsible for partnering with Sales and providing MCU related technical expertise throughout the sales cycle. The FAE proactively identifies current products and/or creative solutions to solve existing customer projects and create new functionality/opportunities. In this role, the FAEM also uses in-depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise to gain credibility and develop relationships with customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understand customer MCU requirements and win new design commitments with TI MCU
  • Take customers' designs to revenue by providing prompt and thorough technical support for on-going design activity
  • Understand system-level architecture of embedded systems (e.g. PSU or motor drive topologies)
  • Debug other engineers' designs: hardware and software using TI and industry-standard development tools and test equipment
  • Contribute technically to TI's community through informal (flex teams, technical forums) and formal (application notes, tech day presentations) channels
  • Feed customer and competitor insights back to TI product groups for new product development
  • Grasp the specific business impact ($) that new product enhancements will produce

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • 3+ years of relevant hands-on experience in embedded systems, microcontrollers, firmware, electronics design or applications engineering
  • Practical experience developing and/or debugging MCU-based systems
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and work effectively with customers and cross-functional teams

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with embedded C/C++, MCU peripherals (PWM, ADC, DMA) and common interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN & PMBus)
  • Experience in embedded applications for digital power and/or motor control (e.g. PID, FOC, ZVS, TCM)
  • Deep understanding of control theory and application in RTOS environments
  • Strong problem-solving, presentation, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to take initiative, sell strategically and drive results
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships
