The Field Application Engineer 5 is a senior, customer‑facing technical leader responsible for driving business growth through strategic customer engagement and technical excellence. This role leads complex technical sales campaigns, builds executive‑level customer relationships, and positions Siemens EDA’s multi‑platform solutions to solve critical customer challenges. As a trusted technical advisor, the Field Application Engineer 5 partners closely with Sales, Product, and cross‑functional teams to lead evaluations, guide deployments, and ensure long‑term customer success.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary technical advisor for strategic and high‑impact customer accounts.
• Build trusted, long‑term relationships with senior technical leaders and decision‑makers.
• Lead complex technical discovery aligned to customer business goals and competitive landscape.
• Own and drive large, multi‑product evaluations and proof‑of‑value engagements.
• Lead technical strategy for sales campaigns and partner with Sales to influence deal outcomes.
• Architect end‑to‑end solutions and guide customers on deployment and adoption strategy.
• Translate technical differentiation into clear business impact and executive‑level messaging.
• Coordinate and lead cross‑functional teams across Sales, Product, R&D, Support, and Services.
• Mentor and coach Field Application Engineers and set technical best practices.
• Provide input on portfolio strategy, licensing approach, and competitive positioning.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor or electronic design flows and methodologies; advanced experience with EDA tools and the ability to integrate and optimize solutions within customer environments.
• Experience scripting or automating workflows using APIs, configuration tools, or custom scripts.
• Demonstrated ability to position and communicate the value of multi tool, multi platform solutions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders.
• Proven success collaborating across sales, product, and technical teams in a customer facing role.
• Experience leading large scale evaluations or enterprise level customer deployments.
• Strong knowledge of competitive EDA technologies and industry trends.
• Prior mentoring or technical leadership experience within a field or customer facing team.

The salary range for this position is $167,200 to $334,400 and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate’s work location as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.
