JOB TITLE:

Field Application Engineer- ADV

REPORTS TO:

China Engineering Manager

Responsible for the technical interface between VAT and customers including OEM and End Users. Act as the technical specialist on customer processes, tools,applications and product requirements.

Support Regional Sector Manager (RSM) to identify challenges and opportunities at the customer sites and recognize new business opportunities for VAT. Partner with RSM to define local product requirements and develop value propositions and strategies to penetrate and grow business at key accounts.

This position is to guide customers in finding better solutions for its products or applications. It is an integral part of VAT’s efforts to develop and execute plans to support the growth in ADV.

The FAE is the first line of support for technical requests from customers and partners (distributors) in pre and post sales phases

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Executes and supports the global product strategy on behalf of ADV BU and in coordination with RSM.
• Support BU and RSM to define specifications for new product development and existing product improvements based on local applications, industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Develop and effectively communicate comprehensive analysis of:

• • • Customer applications, process steps and tools
    • Product features requirements for target segments.
    • Technical benchmarking of competitors’ products.
    • Actively engage in providing support to product development projects
    • Identifies technical features based on learning from customers and competitors to provide competition edge.
    • Identiies local technology trend.
    • Be first level of support in customer technical enquieries for the local team

• Develop local technical material jointly with Business unit to support strengthening VAT differentiation vs. local competitors Provides training for sales organization and customers on processes, tools, applications and technology trend as well as VAT product offering.
• Participate in developing effective product strategic plans and regional roadmap..
• Provide local application leadership for ADV products
• Be an active contributor in future localization projects
• Contributes to the VAT application engineering network

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (phone, PC, copier, etc.).
• Travel is required; approximately 40-60% should be expected.

SKILLS:

• Good technical and non-technical verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Technical skills in the field of customer processes, valve applications or platforms.
• Ability to identify customer pains and define required product features.
• Ability to comprehend and relate technical product and process specifications.
• Ability to work independently, and especially comfortable with customers
• Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
• Strong team player.

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

• 5 years experience of fieldd application position in vacuum related industry.

• Process experiences of Rough & Process, Power Generation, or Thin-film Coating, R&D, Pan-semiconductor, etc.

• Fluent in English (verbal and written) for communication with the headquarter

• Ability to work in a matrix organization.
• Preferred to have marketing and sales exposure.

• Preferred to have experience in product development on vacuum system or sub-system level.
• Knowledge of VAT valve product range is advantageous.

EDUCATION:

Essential:

Four-year degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
