Location: Atlanta, GA

Employment type: Full-time

Pay range: $60,000 – $85,000 per year, based on experience

About the Role

PRG is hiring a Fiber Designer to produce constructible fiber network designs for broadband clients. You’ll work on both Outside Plant (OSP) FTTH projects (aerial and underground feeder, distribution and drop design) and MDU/MXU projects (multi-dwelling unit retrofit and new-build fiber design). The work is hands-on: you’ll take a project from base data and field information through a finished design package that a contractor can build from and a client can approve.

This is a good fit for a designer who knows OSP and MDU work, is comfortable in CAD and GIS tools, and takes pride in getting the details right.

What You’ll Do

  • Design FTTH OSP networks – aerial, underground, boring and micro-trenching – with routes that are clear and constructible.
  • Design MDU/MXU fiber layouts, including building entry, risers, horizontal pathways, distribution points and unit-level connectivity.
  • Produce and audit complete design packages: construction drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), scope of work, and client deliverables such as NTP packages.
  • Build and maintain splice matrices, fiber assignments and connectivity records.
  • Prepare and audit aerial and underground permit drawings and support ROW and easement requirements with municipalities, counties and DOTs.
  • Use field survey data, photos and walkout notes to develop and correct designs.
  • QC your own work and colleagues work against client standards before it goes out, and turn client and agency comments quickly.
  • Support as-built updates and keep design records accurate.
  • Suggest process and tool improvements that make the team faster and the work cleaner.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of fiber design experience in OSP/FTTH, MDU/MXU, or both. Experience in both is a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge of fiber architecture: feeder/distribution/drop, splitters, terminals, fiber counts and splicing.
  • High Level Proficiency with Esri/ArcGIS is a must.
  • Basic Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Vetro FiberMap, 3-GIS and QGIS. Experience building splice matrices and connectivity documentation.
  • Familiarity with aerial and underground permitting and ROW/easement requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects, and clear communication with team members and clients.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing to large-carrier or ISP design standards.
  • BOM development and material research across different OSP architectures.
  • Visio, Bluebeam or other PDF markup tools; Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Field survey or walkout experience.
  • A technical degree or certificate (GIS, CAD, engineering technology) – equivalent hands-on experience is just as valuable.

Benefits

  • Production pay may be available depending on project assignment.
  • Mileage reimbursement for business use of a personal vehicle.
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage for you and your dependents, starting the first of the month after your start date.
  • 401(k) plan with safe-harbor match after one year of service.
  • Paid time off, paid holidays and a floating holiday.
  • Supplemental life insurance for you and your dependents.
