
Responsibilities:
Sourcing & Procurement:
• Source ferrous scrap (HMS 1/2, shredded, busheling, plate & structural, CR/HR scrap) and non-ferrous scrap (aluminium, copper, brass, zinc, stainless steel, etc.)
• Develop and manage relationships with domestic scrap yards, aggregators, processors, and industrial scrap generators
• Source imported scrap from USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, UK, Middle East, Japan, and Southeast Asia
• Negotiate purchase prices, specifications, delivery terms, and payment structures
• Ensure material quality and compliance with Indian buyer specifications
Sales & Trading:
• Manage and grow an existing customer book with steel mills, induction furnace units, rolling mills, foundries, and non-ferrous consumers
• Bring existing book of Customers onboard.
• Develop new domestic and export customers
• Structure and execute trades from purchase to final delivery, including pricing, contract negotiation, and shipment planning
• Optimize trading margins through effective spread management and volume growth
Market Intelligence & Risk Management:
• Monitor domestic and international scrap prices, freight rates, and currency movements
• Track Indian steel and foundry demand dynamics
• Manage price risk, counterparty exposure, and logistics risks
• Provide market intelligence and pricing inputs to management
Operations, Compliance & Logistics:
• Coordinate with logistics, documentation, and finance teams for smooth execution of trades
• Ensure compliance with Indian import regulations, environmental norms, and customs requirements
• Oversee inspections, shipment execution, and resolution of quality or quantity disputes
• Maintain accurate trade documentation and reporting
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in ferrous and/or non-ferrous scrap trading
• Proven supplier and customer relationships in the Indian market
• Strong understanding of scrap grades, specifications, pricing, and logistics
• Experience in both domestic and import scrap trade
• Ability to manage trades independently from sourcing to settlement
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is advantageous.
Skills:
• Experience trading scrap into India’s western, southern or northern clusters
• Familiarity with ports such as Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Kandla, Chennai, Vizag
• Understanding of BIS, pollution control, and customs compliance
• Multilingual skills (English and Hindi required; regional languages a plus)
