Female Disability Support Workers – Newcastle NSW | Immediate Start

We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate Female Disability Support Workers to provide mental health and psychosocial support to participants in Newcastle, NSW.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide person-centred, recovery-oriented mental health support

  • Support participants with complex behaviours and behaviours of concern

  • Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and individual support plans

  • Assist with daily living activities, routines, and personal care

  • Support community access, appointments, and social participation

  • Monitor wellbeing, manage risk, and follow NDIS practice standards

  • Complete progress notes, incident reports, and documentation

  • Provide in-home support in a safe and supportive environment

Essential Requirements:

  • Certificate III or higher in Disability, Mental Health, Community Services, or related field

  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health or psychosocial disability (highly preferred)

  • Experience supporting participants with complex mental health presentations such as schizophrenia, PTSD, and other psychosocial stressors

  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours including verbal aggression and substance-related concerns

  • Comfortable working in family home environments and supporting participants with varying household dynamics

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate

  • Valid Australian Driver’s Licence and reliable transport

  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills

Shift Details:
Monday – Friday
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (8-hour shifts)
