About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Female Disability Support Worker to provide support to an 18-year-old female client in Telopea, NSW This is a casual position. The client presents a range of mental health challenges, including self-harm, suicidal ideation, and other complex behavioral issues. The role will involve supporting the client in an NDIS setting, promoting independence, and ensuring safety while managing challenging behaviors.
The client has the following conditions:
Hypovitaminosis
Social Anxiety Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder (2)
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) (currently under investigation)
The role requires you to assist the client with daily living tasks, provide emotional support, manage behaviors such as self-harm, suicidal ideation, intimidation, and sexually inappropriate behaviors, and help her access the community in a safe and supported way.
Key Responsibilities
Provide community access support and assist the client with engaging in daily activities.
Manage challenging behaviors, including self-harm, suicidal ideation, threats/intimidation, and sexually inappropriate behaviors as required.
Engage with the client in meaningful conversation and provide emotional support to build rapport and trust.
Assist in managing and navigating the client’s mental health needs.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should bring the following:
Experience working with youth and individuals with mental health disabilities
Proven ability to manage complex behaviors, including self-harm, suicidal ideation, intimidation, and sexually inappropriate behaviors.
Patience, empathy, and resilience, particularly in high-pressure situations.
A strong ability to engage and support the client emotionally, with a focus on building trust and rapport.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the client’s needs in unpredictable situations.
Essential Requirements
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Employee Working With Children Check
Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates
Valid Australian Driver’s Licence and a reliable, comprehensively insured car
At least Certificate III in Community Service, or an equivalent qualification
Minimum 2 years’ experience in Disability Support or similar roles
Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks
