
Connecting Families is currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Female
Disability Support Worker or Assistant in Nursing (preferred) to support a 38-year-old
female client based in North Brisbane
This is a casual opportunity supporting a client living with a C4 AIS B Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), with complex physical, medical, and emotional needs. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes dignity, safety, and
independence.
About the Role
You will be providing in-home support, assisting the client with daily activities while ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide personal care and support with activities of daily living
• Support a client living with a spinal cord injury, following established care plans
• Perform manual handling tasks using hoisting and assistive equipment
• Carry out manual bowel care routines in line with training and clinical guidelines
• Assist with complex physical and mental health needs
• Provide emotional support and build a positive, trusting relationship
• Support community access and encourage independence
• Complete clear and accurate shift handovers
Essential Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in disability support, Assistant in Nursing, or similar roles
• Experience with manual handling and bowel care
• Certificate III in Disability (or equivalent qualification)
• Current Yellow Card and Blue Card
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification
• Current Australian Driver’s License and comprehensively insured vehicle
