Job Description

About Connecting Families:

At Connecting Families, we’re more than a service provider—we’re a values-driven community dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of children, adults, and families. Guided by our core principles of Capability, Authenticity, Respect, and Empowerment (CARE), we work every day to create environments where individuals feel supported and included. With innovative programs and a team of passionate, compassionate professionals, we aim to turn inclusivity and excellence into everyday reality for our clients.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Disability Support Worker to support a female client in Holmview, QLD. This is a casual position, providing both in-home and community support.

The client has an acute brain injury as her primary diagnosis, with secondary diagnoses of anxiety, depression, and ADHD.

The client presents very much like a teenager in her preferences and personality. She dislikes formal settings and does not respond well to overly serious or directive approaches. Instead, she thrives when staff adopt a relaxed, supportive attitude. She prefers being offered help rather than being told what to do. Swearing is a natural part of her self-expression and should not be taken as aggression.

Your role will involve supporting her independence while providing encouragement and guidance in a way that respects her individuality and communication style.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you should bring the following qualities:

  • Willingness to travel to Holmview, QLD
  • Availability for casual shifts, with flexibility to meet client needs
  • Confidence in engaging with clients who may be verbally aggressive or non-compliant
  • Patience and empathy when supporting a client who communicates softly and may take time to respond
  • Ability to maintain a relaxed, non-formal approach, avoiding directive language and instead offering support
  • Comfort with clients who use swearing as self-expression
  • Resilience and self-assurance when working with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • A genuine desire to support individuals with additional needs through a person-centered approach
  • Experience supporting individuals with:

- Brain injury

- Anxiety and depression

- ADHD

  • At least 2 years of experience in Disability Support is preferred

Essential Requirements:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Employee Working with Children Check
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates
  • Valid Australian Driver's License with a reliable, comprehensively insured car
  • At least Certificate III or IV in Disability

What We Offer:

  • Ongoing professional development opportunities
  • A supportive team environment where every member is valued and encouraged to thrive
  • Opportunities for flexible, client-focused shifts

How to Apply:

If you’re a passionate Disability Support Worker who meets the above qualifications and is eager to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you! Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your experience and why you’d be a great fit for this role.

Note: Due to the high volume of applications, only successful candidates will be contacted.
