About the Role

We are seeking a Female Disability Support Worker to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a participant with complex medical and behavioural needs. This role requires a compassionate, patient, and safety-focused individual who can provide high-quality care while maintaining dignity and respect.

Medical Conditions:

  • Huntington's Disease
  • High falls risk
  • Schizophrenia
  • Faecal and urinary incontinence
  • Requires meal preparation and monitoring in line with a modified diet and mealtime management plan

Behavioural Challenges:

  • Verbal aggression
  • Refusal of personal cares or medication at times
  • Smoker at risk of self-injury if unsupervised

Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care & Medication: Assist with hygiene, continence care, and medication adherence using positive reinforcement.
  • Meal Preparation & Monitoring: Prepare meals per dietary requirements and ensure safe mealtime supervision.
  • Compassionate Support: Build trust and provide patient, respectful care at all times.
  • Independence & Engagement: Encourage autonomy and meaningful activities where possible.
  • Health Monitoring & Documentation: Record and report changes in physical or emotional well-being promptly.

Shift Schedule: Morning (7am–3pm), Afternoon (3pm–11pm), and Active Overnight (11pm–7am) shifts available.

About You

  • Compassionate & Patient: Able to provide support during care refusal or challenging behaviours.
  • Calm & Resilient: Skilled at de-escalating verbal aggression and remaining composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Experienced in Complex Care: Background in supporting clients with Huntington’s Disease, schizophrenia, or similar conditions.
  • Safety-Conscious: Able to supervise smoking and mitigate injury risks.
  • Strong Communicator: Clear, empathetic, and consistent in communication and care.

Essential Requirements

  • Cert III or IV in Disability, Aged Care, or equivalent
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check & Employee Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid Australian driver’s licence and reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification
  • Proven experience supporting individuals with complex behaviours and disabilities

Highly desirable: Experience with Huntington’s Disease, high falls risk, and incontinence care
