
There are thousands of children who rely on free or reduced lunch during the school year, and when school ends many would go hungry without help. Feed The Kids is a 10-week summer meals program for children living in Milwaukee’s underserved neighborhoods. About 1,500 meals are distributed Monday-Friday, June-August, to 21 different neighborhoods, parks, and street corners on Milwaukee’s north and south side. The meal consists of a sandwich, fruit, snack, and juice or water. The Salvation Army has provided more than 2 million meals through the Feed The Kids program since 1990. This is a seasonal position. Employment dates are from June 22, 2026, through August 21, 2026; Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. (Times may be adjusted due to work volume.)
The Kitchen Assistant provides the Feed the Kids program coordination as it relates to meal preparation, meal distribution, volunteers, cleanliness of food preparation and kitchen areas and service delivery.

Compensation: $14-$18/hour, based on experience.
