The Feed Mill Manager provides hands‑on leadership for daily feed manufacturing operations while setting the standard for safety, quality, efficiency, and teamwork. This role is ideal for a leader who believes the best managers lead from the floor—working alongside employees, coaching in real time, and taking ownership of both people and process.
The Feed Mill Manager is accountable for safe and compliant feed production, employee development, equipment reliability, and delivering a consistent, high‑quality product that meets member expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Lead by example through active, hands‑on involvement in daily mill operations.
Build a strong safety‑first culture where employees are empowered to speak up and act.
Train, coach, and mentor mill employees; set clear expectations and hold the team accountable.
Schedule, assign, and prioritize work to meet production and delivery needs.
Foster teamwork, accountability, and pride in workmanship.
Feed Manufacturing & Quality Control
Oversee mixing, grinding, batching, and load‑out of feed in compliance with all regulations.
Ensure accurate formulations, labeling, recordkeeping, and traceability.
Maintain compliance with OSHA, FDA, DATCP, and cooperative policies.
Address quality issues promptly and drive corrective actions.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
Enforce all safety policies and lead continuous safety improvements.
Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and training.
Ensure housekeeping standards meet regulatory and cooperative expectations.
Report and address unsafe conditions immediately.
Operations & Maintenance
Maintain mill equipment and facilities through preventive maintenance programs.
Coordinate repairs and work with vendors as needed.
Monitor inventory levels and work with procurement to avoid shortages or overages.
Support efficient delivery coordination with drivers and logistics staff.
Communication & Collaboration
Work closely with sales, nutrition, logistics, and grain teams to meet customer needs.
Communicate clearly with management regarding production, staffing, and operational challenges.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the feed and grain division.
Qualifications

Prior experience in feed mill operations, grain handling, or ag manufacturing.
Proven leadership experience with a working, hands‑on management style.
Strong understanding of feed manufacturing, safety, and quality systems.
Mechanical aptitude and comfort troubleshooting equipment issues.
Ability to lead in a fast‑paced, production‑driven environment.
CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
Ability to work extended or flexible hours during peak seasons.
Physical & Work Environment
Regular exposure to grain, feed ingredients, dust, and varying temperatures.
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and navigate stairs, ladders, and production areas.
Combination of indoor and outdoor work in an industrial/ag environment.
