Are you an accounting or federal grants professional who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with others, and leading statewide initiatives? The Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, Office of Statewide Accounting Services, is seeking a highly motivated Federal Fund Accountant to coordinate the Commonwealth's annual Statewide Single Audit of Kentucky (SSWAK) and Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) reporting process.

This position coordinates statewide federal financial reporting and Single Audit compliance activities, partnering with agencies across state government to ensure accurate and timely reporting of billions of dollars in federal expenditures. If you enjoy training others, analyzing financial data, improving processes, and working on projects that have statewide significance, this is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact.

As a Federal Fund Accountant, you will:

  • Provide statewide training, technical assistance, and guidance to agency financial staff regarding federal reporting requirements and Uniform Guidance.
  • Assist agencies with reconciling SEFA reporting packages and resolving reporting discrepancies.
  • Compile the Summary Schedule of Prior Audit Findings and coordinate the collection of corrective action plans and implementation status updates from state agencies.
  • Prepare and submit the Commonwealth's required Single Audit reporting package to the Federal Audit Clearinghouse.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, federal agencies, and state leadership throughout the annual Single Audit process.
  • Analyze federal regulations and recommend improvements to statewide reporting procedures and internal controls.
  • Develop reporting guidance, instructional materials, and best practices that strengthen statewide compliance.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and federal grant requirements.
  • Experience with financial reporting, auditing, grants management, or federal compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience presenting training or providing technical assistance.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and explain technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple statewide deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.

The Office of Statewide Accounting Services provides financial leadership for the Commonwealth and is responsible for preparing Kentucky's Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA), the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), and coordinating the Statewide Single Audit of Kentucky, while promoting sound financial management practices across state government.

In this role, your work will directly influence federal compliance, statewide financial reporting, and the stewardship of public resources. You will collaborate with professionals across every cabinet and agency while helping strengthen financial accountability throughout the Commonwealth.
