Our Vision & Mission

We envision a world in which all people have access to high quality and enduring solutions to improve and maintain their health and well-being. MCD Global Health aspires to be a premier partner of choice and a recognized leader, innovator, and trusted partner in healthcare and public health program development, implementation and evaluation. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of people worldwide through enduring, high-quality, cost-effective, and universally accessible public health solutions. MCD operates impactful programs both in the U.S.A. and internationally.

Healthy Lincoln County is recruiting a contractor to support its Summer Meals program. This position will play a key role in coordinating HLC’s Summer Meals program. This is a great job for someone looking for temporary summer work. It’s also an excellent opportunity to support your local community.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), coordinated through the Maine Department of Education, is a federally funded program through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that provides free meals to children 18 years old and under during the summer months. The SFSP was established to ensure low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals during the summer months when school is not in session. Free meals that meet the federal nutritional guidelines are provided to all children 18 years old and younger at approved SFSP sites in areas with significant concentrations of low-income children.

Responsibilities of this contracted position will include program compliance, volunteer recruitment and management, meal site visit monitoring, and communication and community outreach.

Specific duties include:

  1. Support the Food Systems Coordinator with increased summer workload for the Farmers Market Promotion Program and related food security efforts.

  2. Staff the HLC booth at Boothbay and Damariscotta Farmers Markets, engage customers, and promote SNAP, WIC, Maine Harvest Bucks, and other incentives.

  3. Provide on-site shopper education and outreach to help customers understand and use available benefits.

  4. Offer basic technical assistance to vendors and shoppers using SNAP/EBT, WIC, and Maine Harvest Bucks.

  5. Assist with Food Hub operations, including receiving, sorting, packing, and handling local farm products.

  6. Communicate with farmers, vendors, shoppers, and staff to share updates, address needs, and strengthen partnerships.

  7. Conduct farmer visits to support relationship building, outreach, and market access.

  8. Gather feedback and observations from markets and the Food Hub to improve marketing, education, and program accessibility.

  9. Perform other duties as needed to support HLC’s food systems and food security work.

Requirements

  • Experience in customer service, community outreach, agriculture, food systems, or related fields—including lived experience.

  • Ability to work independently in busy market environments and collaboratively with HLC staff.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort engaging with farmers, vendors, and shoppers.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required

  • Ability to lift 30-40 lbs

  • All HLC contractors require a background check

  • Experience working with USDA nutrition incentive programs is highly desirable
