Job Description

The Farm Solid Waste Truck Driver I is responsible for completion of all tasks associated with the disposing of solid waste from the Moses Lake and/or Othello Simplot processing facilities. In addition the Farm Solid Waste Truck I position is responsible for completion of all tasks associated operating and general maintenance of Company spreader trucks, dump trucks, loaders and heavy equipment such dozers to work on farm projects. This position will be able to help the Farm Operators when needed.

The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the farm area along with having to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of moving farm equipment and other potential safety hazards on a farm.
  • Ensures necessary level of communication is maintained with the appropriate personnel which includes ensuring efficient silt bunker operation.
  • Must become qualified within 45 working days of employment in this position.
  • Has the knowledge and ability to assist the Farm Operators when needed.
  • Has experience and is fully capable of running heavy equipment such as dozers to work on farm projects.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate completion of truck inspections and scale house records to comply with rules and regulations that all farm documents and reports are completed accurately in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge. This includes but not limited to safety meetings and CDL trainings.
  • May assist in training other personnel.
  • Maintains Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.
  • Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and plant procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Maintains necessary level of communication with team members and other support groups and does so in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.
  • Ensures that additional accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards.

Typical Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Relevant Experience

  • Combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License with Class A Commercial Driver’s License Endorsement and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year truck driving experience.
  • Must be able to perform the duties as outlined in the Key Responsibilities.
