Job Description

We are working closely with a local authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Family Support Worker, on a 2-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £14.09- £18.42 per hour

The Family Support Worker plays a vital role within Cardiff Council's Interventions Hub and Support for Families Team by providing early intervention and preventative support to children, young people, and their families. The role focuses on helping families access the right support at the right time to prevent escalation of difficulties, improve parenting capacity, and enhance children's health, wellbeing, and developmental outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support parents to develop their capacity to promote and enhance their children's health, safety, development, and wellbeing.
  • Develop and implement intervention programmes designed to address specific family difficulties and behavioural concerns.
  • Contribute to assessments of children and families within the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and Their Families.
  • Adhere to Cardiff Council's Corporate Safeguarding Policy and report concerns relating to the safety and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Assist Team Managers in developing resources and services for families.
  • Support students, volunteers, and colleagues by sharing knowledge and providing advice where appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE education (or equivalent qualification).

Essentials:

  • Experience working directly with vulnerable children, young people, and parents/carers within community settings.
  • Experience supporting families to achieve positive and sustainable change.
  • Experience engaging effectively with children and families experiencing complex needs.
  • A full UK driving license

Please note:

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires a n Enhanced DBS
