Position Details

FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST - WESTLAND, MICHIGAN

Do you have Family Support experience? This is a hands-on, MIDNIGHTS role, requiring someone with empathy and the understanding that this is an ever-changing job. No two days will be the same. There could be housekeeping, kitchen duty, med passing, helping residents with hygiene, preparing rooms for new residents, de-escalating situations...all while showing compassion for families in a state of transition for a variety of reasons. We meet people where they are on life's journey with no judgement.

This role pays $19.00 per hour. Hours are 3:30p - 11p ::: Week One you will work on Tuesday & Friday. Week Two you will work Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday. Then you start again with the Week One schedule.

Assists families in daily living in accordance with their individual case plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete assignments to support resident service plans and Centers' programs in accordance with Center, Division and contract requirements.
  • Document all relevant shift activity in 'log book' according to Center policy.
  • Review resident log daily and document resident activities daily.
  • Assist in conducting telephone and walk-in intakes for prospective residents; make referrals to community resources and services.
  • Provide medications in accordance with resident's medical chart; document in resident chart.
  • Monitor residents' behaviors; report incidents/violations orally and in writing to Program Manager.
  • Prepare and distribute meals for residents; maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas on assigned shift to include but not limited to dishwashing.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in resident rooms, including but not limited to cleaning, vacuuming, wiping, sanitizing, and preparation of vacant resident rooms. Serve as a mentor to Family Support Workers. Provide initial and ongoing training as required.

    Job Qualifications

    Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

    • Training or college courses in social work or human services preferred.
    • Required to attain and maintain Food Handler's Basic certification.

    Experience

    • One year experience providing direct service to clients in social services, residential or a community service setting preferred.
