Position Type: Full Time40 hours per week
United Ability is an organization that provides a variety of services to individuals with disabilities.  We are currently seeking candidates to join our team as a Family Support Specialist providing in-home training for parents/caregivers whose children are prenatal or older until kindergarten. Collaborating with other team members, you will:
- Conduct home visits using the Parent as Teachers (PAT) curriculum, this includes planning the visit, gathering materials, traveling to home, and documenting visit within required timeframe
- Assists with parent group connections
- Develops and maintains a community resource network to link families as needed
- Assist parents/children with transition to preschool or kindergarten
- Completes weekly, monthly and annual reports within required timeframe
- Completes annual required training for Parents as Teachers
Applicant general qualifications include:
- Bachelor of a four-year degree in Early Childhood or a related field is preferred.  It is also acceptable for a Family Support Specialist to have a two-year degree or 60 college hours in early childhood or a related field and/or supervised experience working with young children and/or parents
- Family Support Specialists must attend Foundational and Model Implementation Training from Parents as Teachers upon hire
- Valid State of AL driver’s license and successful completion of motor vehicle screening required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
