Job Description

CORA Services is a dynamic and growing not for profit organization in Philadelphia. CORA is currently seeking a Part-time Family Support Specialist to be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing family engagement initiatives, parent education workshops, and family-centered programming across CORA's programs and partner schools. This position provides individual, group, and family counseling and case management to families in need of specialized support with family functioning and parenting practices, while also leading specialized parent-child programming including One Circle Foundation's Mother Daughter Circle and Parent and Child Together (PACT) programs.

The Family Support Specialist will work 20 - 25 hours per week.

Starting minimum hourly pay: $23.50 (Pay rate is commensurate with experience and credentials)

In addition, as a Family Support Specialist, your duties will include:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and facilitate Family Forums on diverse topics including college financial aid, boundary setting, substance use prevention, vaping education, and other emerging family concerns, including identifying, recruiting, and coordinating expert presenters and community partners.
  • Act as a liaison to community organizations and school/community representatives in assigned geographical areas, establishing and maintaining close working relationships to support family engagement and referral efforts.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling and case management in the Agency or approved schools/alternate sites where appropriate, including:
  • client-centered needs and strengths assessments resulting in client-driven service plans;
  • counseling interventions to assist families with parenting practices, family functioning, and practical application of child development/life skills curricula;
  • resource connections for medical, legal, educational, benefit assistance, and psychoeducational resources/supports;
  • professional consultations with other service/system providers and others deemed significant by the client/family.
  • Complete Parenting Programs using approved evidence-based curricula within CORA and community sites to improve parent skill development and encourage positive and healthy family functioning.
  • Implement One Circle Foundation's Mother Daughter Circle program including recruitment, facilitation, and program evaluation activities.
  • Develop and implement Parent and Child Together (PACT) programs that bring parents and children together for shared experiences in areas such as art, health and wellness, recreation, and other enrichment activities.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement to families to promote participation in workshops, forums, and specialized programming.
  • Collaborate with Prevention Education Specialists and other CORA staff to ensure coordinated service delivery and family engagement strategies.
  • Complete required state, local, and organizational database entries and associated file documentation for all activities related to service delivery.
  • Participate in regular team consultations with staff to provide service updates and collaborative planning around case management services.
  • Adhere to organization and regulatory entity guidelines concerning caseload requirements, service delivery, accountability, supervision, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in all necessary interdisciplinary functions and meetings.
  • Generate/prepare all required statistical reports, funding reports, and regulatory database entries in a timely fashion.
  • Adhere to training requirements established by organization or other regulatory entities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, as needed.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Counseling, or one of the closely related Social or Heath Sciences, Master’s preferred

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Experience in service coordination
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with children, adolescents and their families in treatment/intervention services
  • Knowledge of evidence-based parenting curricula and family strengthening approaches.
  • Strong presentation and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate events, manage logistics, and work with community partners and external experts.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and family systems.
  • Cultural competency and ability to work effectively with diverse families.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and occasional weekends to accommodate family schedules.
