The Family Support Specialist staff communicates with primary CM staff, transportation department and management to coordinate and transport clients to CPS visits, court appearances, and possibly medical appointments for clients and children. Family Support Specialist will attend court proceedings/CPS visits with client, provide necessary documents of support i.e. progress reports and have knowledge of the case they are representing. The Family Support Specialist staff will assist in managing client cases by transporting clients to CPS visits and court appearances while also communicating with referral sources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Family Support Specialist is an integral role in carrying out the mission of The Counseling Center, Inc., by performing the following duties:

  1. Family Support Specialist will work directly with Primary CM, transportation department and management to coordinate and transport clients to court, CPS visits, and medical appointments.
  2. Family Support Specialist will fully understand the transportation scheduling process and utilize it to manage daily schedule and ensure clients are attending court and CPS visits.
  3. Effectively communicate with management, primary case managers and transportation.
  4. Maintain certification and or license while receiving weekly supervision to meet licensing board requirements.
  5. Providing clients, referral sources, and family members with information about addiction issues and available services/programs.
  6. Assists in obtaining supportive services to aid the client in their personal goals in recovery through the services of the agency or through referral to other agencies or programs. Assist clients in accessing community resources and provides supportive services as appropriate.
  7. Provide written documentation of client activity and periodic written updates to maintain compliance with requirements and provide documentation billing of services.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

Secondary functions are duties, which are not exclusive of the position, can be performed by other positions; however, secondary duties are to be performed for the efficiency of The Counseling Center, Inc.

  1. Conducts educational and group counseling services to improve coping skills and provide a forum in which to share and learn communication skills.
  2. Performs other duties as assigned by the Family Care Advocate or Management team.



Qualifications

COMPETENCIES

  1. Demonstrates Knowledge in Substance use disorders, community psychiatric supportive treatment, ASAM LOC, medical necessity.
  2. Demonstrates understanding of CM duties and performance including understanding the continuum of care at TCC, and confidentiality of client information.
  3. Ability in the area of effective communication, interpersonal skills, written communication
  4. Ability to complete all documentation in accordance with agency policy.
  5. Effective time management/organizational skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, INCLUDING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent, Behavioral Science Degree preferred.
  2. Knowledge in Substance use disorders, community psychiatric supportive treatment, ASAM Level of Care and medical necessity.
  3. 12-Step Recovery knowledge
  4. Valid Ohio Drivers License and ability to maintain insurability.
  5. Maintain CPR/First Aid treatment preferred.
  6. Maintains applicable agency trainings, attends weekly supervision.
  7. CDCA credential preferred.
