Family Services Specialist

Department: Child Care Choices of Boston

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Downtown Boston - Chauncy Street

Reporting To: Luz Reyes

Compensation: $25.43 / hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing consumer education to families seeking and receiving child care subsidies funded by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).
  • Assist families with the intake and eligibility process and follow-up services, providing technical assistance and communication around the subsidy system to parents and providers.
  • Assess eligibility and issue vouchers for families within the EEC funded subsidy system, including DTA and Income Eligible.
  • Provide technical assistance and accurate information to families regarding their role and continued access to child care voucher subsidies.
  • Maintain files and update parent records and database information.
  • Support parents as the link between providers in the voucher system, and assist them in changing providers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with one to three years of related work experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office systems.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts child care subsidy system, and knowledge of early childhood development demonstrated through work experience or education.
  • Ability to travel locally, and work occasional evenings/weekends as required.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred (not required)
  • Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

Expected Salary: $25.43/hour USD. Salary scales are set according to an explicit compensation policy and relevant market data. Due to funding restrictions and our strong focus on internal parity, this salary is thoughtfully aligned with the duties expected for this role, and offers are firm.
