Job Description

This posting is for 2 hourly positions until December 2026.

As a Program Support Worker, you will provide assistance in the planning, organizing and implementation of a blended service continuum of supports, resources, programs and community engagement activities for young children, their parents (including parents to be), caregivers, community, and service providers.

This opportunity includes two positions with varying schedules: one hourly part-time working 10 hours per week, and one hourly full-time working 35 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to the Family Resource Network branch in the planning and implementation of community-based programs and supports for children, youth, and adults in several settings
  • Organize supplies, materials, and resources in storage areas, including transporting items to off-site locations
  • Respond to inquiries about program activities and community information; ensure that all participants receive the required services in a timely way and are treated in a respectful, sensitive manner while maintaining confidentiality
  • Adhere to standards of practice in documentation, ethics, and use of supervision
  • Frequently sets up at various indoor and outdoor locations, requiring the ability to lift and move materials, equipment, and furniture.
  • Provide occasional childminding during parent/caregiver sessions, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children in line with policies and safety guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School diploma required. Post-secondary in a human service field is an asset
  • Experience working with young children and families
  • Experience in planning, delivering and evaluating programs is an asset
  • Intermediate First Aid certification is an asset
  • Food safety and handling certification is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others in a manner that facilitates decision making and collaboration
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with parents, caregivers, colleagues, community stakeholders and service providers
  • Awareness of the importance of play in the growth and development of children.
  • Ability to listen and convey messages in a manner that contributes to clarity and shared understanding
  • Broad based knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and equally confident in working within a team

Conditions of Employment:

  • Submission of Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including daytime, evenings and weekends
  • Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties including lifting 22.5 kg (20 lbs)
