About Our Family

We are an active, close-knit family with an older child moving away to college, two school-age twins heading into third grade and a sweet, enthusiastic goldendoodle who loves people just a little too much (prepare for hugs!) Our home is warm, lively, and full of personality. We laugh a lot, communicate directly, and have a sarcastic sense of humor that keeps things light even on the busiest days.

One parent works primarily from home and is around during the day; the other leads a health and wellness company and splits time between the office and home throughout the week. Life moves fast in our household: there are after-school activities, playdates to coordinate, a dog to care for, and a household that needs someone who can keep it all moving without being asked twice. Our two kids need someone genuinely engaged and present with them after school.

We have relied on a combination of household support over the years and are now looking to bring it all together into one trusted role. We want someone who feels like a real partner in running our home — capable, warm, consistent, and genuinely invested in our family's rhythm.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are not new to managing a household — whether your own or someone else's — and you know what it takes to keep things running before anyone has to ask. You notice the watermelon on the counter and think to cut it without needing to be told. You are proactive, organized, and consistent: items go back where they belong, systems stay maintained, and follow-through is not optional.

You are genuinely warm and engaging with school-age kids — active, homework-patient, creative about keeping kids engaged without screens, and comfortable holding age-appropriate boundaries without being rigid. You support family routines and help kids build independence while keeping things fun. You communicate clearly and easily with both parents, including the parent who works from home and values a direct, easygoing working relationship. You can roll with last-minute changes, take a small redirect without taking it personally, and show up ready to own your role.

You’re someone who helps relieve the mental load for mom and dad by seeing, anticipating, organizing, and executing what keeps the family running. You don’t just flag something that needs attention — you’re comfortable doing the initial legwork, thinking through possible solutions, and bringing thoughtful options to the family. If soccer registration is approaching, a school project requires supplies, or a household vendor falls through, you notice it, communicate it, and help move the next step forward. You know when to take ownership and when to pause for family input before proceeding.

You bring positive energy into the home, take pride in your work, and genuinely enjoy being part of a family's daily life — not just checking items off a list. You don't take yourself too seriously, but you take the job seriously. That balance matters a lot here.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support & Childcare

  • Manage school pickup and after-school routines Monday through Friday (school is within walking distance)
  • Provide primary childcare coverage approximately 3:00–6:00 PM daily, with Tuesday evening coverage until 9:00 PM and approximately two additional evenings per month
  • Support homework completion, after-school routines, and smooth activity transitions
  • Transport children to and from activities, sports, playdates, and appointments using personal vehicle
  • Coordinate playdates and communicate comfortably with other parents
  • Prep backpacks, clothing, snacks, and anything the kids need for the following day
  • Administer prescription eye drops for one child at bedtime (parent will provide training)
  • Help children build age-appropriate independence while consistently upholding family expectations, routines, and values
  • Provide occasional overnight coverage when family travel or scheduling needs arise

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Maintain and support household organization systems; communicate before making changes to established setups
  • Daily resets: clean and dry kids' water bottles, unpack backpacks, tidy common areas
  • Weekly reset (back half of week preferred): vacuum high-traffic areas, wipe surfaces, and complete a thorough kitchen clean/reset so the home feels fresh and ready for the weekend
  • Wipe down outdoor patio furniture weekly or every other week
  • Manage seasonal clothing swaps; sort items for consignment vs. donation (family will provide brand guidance)
  • Occasional deep cleaning: refrigerator, oven, and baseboards as needed
  • Refresh mudroom and entry area as needed
  • Organizational projects as needed: playroom refresh every couple of months, linen closet organization
  • Check and replace light bulbs and batteries as needed
  • Support event, party, and holiday prep: grocery runs, day-before setup, gift wrapping

Family Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

  • Maintain shared access to the family calendar, Notes app, and other family planning tools
  • Maintain a forward-looking view of school calendars, activities, family events, birthdays, travel, and household needs; proactively flag upcoming deadlines or decisions before they become urgent
  • Anticipate upcoming needs related to school projects, activities, supplies, clothing, gifts, registrations, and special events, and coordinate next steps with parents as appropriate
  • Research options and bring thoughtful recommendations when decisions are needed, whether for household vendors, children's needs, gifts, activities, or other family logistics
  • Take ownership of agreed-upon next steps and comfortably adjust direction based on family feedback
  • Handle receipts and use the family credit card for approved purchases
  • Support packing and unpacking logistics before and after family travel
  • Check on the home and pet while the family is away as needed

Laundry & Linens

  • Wash, fold, and organize all children's laundry including clothing, towels, and bedding
  • Move parents' laundry through the cycle and put away as needed
  • Care for air-dry items; occasional steaming as needed
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area

Inventory & Errands

  • Restock household and children's supplies (toiletries, snacks, pantry staples) before they run out
  • Add items to the shared grocery list app as needed; make occasional Trader Joe's runs
  • Manage Amazon Subscribe & Save restocking when shipments arrive
  • Handle returns, occasional dry cleaning pickup, and gift shopping for birthdays and holidays (wrapping included)
  • Bring in packages; open and put away as directed; break down boxes

Meal Support

  • Prepare simple children’s meals as needed, including Tuesday evenings. Ability and interest in helping with occasional simple family meal prep is a plus.
  • Prep healthy after-school snacks daily; follow family food guidelines, including avoiding artificial dyes (particularly Red Dye 40) and keeping treats intentional rather than routine
  • Prepare school lunches as needed
  • Keep kids' meal staples stocked and identify easy options using what is already in the house
  • Kitchen clean-up and general maintenance after meal prep

Pet Care

  • Feed and refresh water for the family dog as needed, particularly when a parent is traveling or working late
  • Take the dog for walks as needed, including after-school walks with the kids
  • Coordinate grooming drop-offs and pickups; assist with scheduling grooming appointments

Vehicle Upkeep

  • Take the family vehicle to the car wash approximately once per month
  • Occasional vehicle clean-out and organization as needed

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Coordinate vendor appointments as requested (rug and couch cleaning, window washing, and similar services)
  • Flag small household repair needs and research options or quotes as needed
