Family Medicine Faculty with Obstetrics (FM-OB)

The Department of Family & Community Medicine at Albany Medical College invites applications for a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Family Medicine Physician with a strong interest and training in Obstetrics to join our full-time faculty. We are seeking an FM-OB physician passionate about providing comprehensive maternity care, teaching residents and medical students, and helping expand Family Medicine Obstetrics within our residency program. Both early-career and experienced FM-OB physicians are encouraged to apply.

About the Position

The successful candidate will join our established Albany Family Medicine practice (Community Care Physicians), a vibrant, team-based community site in beautiful upstate New York. This position offers the opportunity to practice full-spectrum family medicine with a focus on obstetric and women's health care, while holding privileges at both our academic and community teaching hospitals.

Faculty work in a collaborative environment alongside residents, obstetricians, pediatricians, pharmacists, behavioral health professionals, and interprofessional team members. We are committed to training family physicians capable of providing high-quality, evidence-based maternity care to diverse patient populations.

Education and Residency Leadership

Education is a cornerstone of our mission. Faculty contribute to undergraduate and graduate medical education within our fully accredited 6-6-6 Family Medicine Residency Program with Osteopathic Recognition.

We are particularly interested in candidates who wish to:

  • Teach and supervise residents in prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and newborn medicine
  • Expand Family Medicine Obstetrics training opportunities
  • Develop obstetric and women's health curricula
  • Mentor residents pursuing full-spectrum family medicine and FM-OB careers
  • Participate in scholarly activity related to maternal and child health
  • Collaborate with obstetrics, pediatrics, and community partners to improve maternal outcomes

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $240,000
  • $20,000 signing bonus
  • $10,000 retention bonus after one year and an additional $10,000 retention bonus after year two
  • 6% annual retirement contribution

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (ABFM or ACOFP)
  • Training and demonstrated interest in Family Medicine Obstetrics
  • Experience providing prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care preferred
  • Fellowship training in Family Medicine Obstetrics welcomed but not required
  • Eligible for New York State medical licensure
  • Eligible for Federal DEA registration

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have completion of Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Medicine (MD), completion of an accredited internship and residency and an active license to practice medicine in NYS. Must be currently board certified by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Member Board or an approved American Osteopathic Association (AOA) specialty board. Upcoming new graduates will still be considered in a board eligible status.
