Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as subject matter expert to 17 judges to work more in-depth on court-ordered cases, including but not limited to, child support, child abuse, divorce, SAPCRs, and protective orders.
Interviews clients, collects data required for evaluation and reporting requirements
Conducts assessments of client needs by providing basic counseling; assesses the needs and suitability of individuals entering the court program
Serves as an advocate on behalf of the client by making appropriate referrals to other organization or programs
Coordinates with other social service agencies, organizations, and vendors to provide appropriate services and information to participating families
Collects data required for evaluation and reporting requirements; compiles records and prepare reports
Reporting of client progress, concerns, and achievements to the Courts; conducts follow-up interviews as to the effectiveness of services provided
Maintain up to date client records to include electronic entry of information for data collection, as well as filing documentation of client progress
Assists and attends with active participation in case staffing
Coordinates with community providers, attorneys, court staff, participants involved in assigned cases
Reports to a court manager regarding participant non-compliance with treatment plan
Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Behavioral Science, or a closely related field or a certification in Family Violence counseling, which requires participating in a practicum as part of a supervised course of clinical training at an accredited institution of higher learning or a proprietary school, and five (5) years of experience working with family violence cases, family violence support services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Good knowledge of domestic violence, family violence, and child protective services; good knowledge of civil and criminal laws and the Bexar County presiding system
Skill to communicate effectively with hostile, abusive, or irrational individuals; skill in managing multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to perform mathematical calculations; ability to adjust to rapidly fluctuating situations; ability to react professionally and safely under potential or actual volatile conditions; ability to operate a personal computer; ability to enhance technological skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, defendants and their families, outside agencies, caseworkers and the general public. Proficiency in Excel and Word; ability to develop and maintain a variety of spreadsheets to track client and provider information
Demonstrates technological intuitiveness
Must have a valid driver’s license, motor vehicle liability insurance, personal injury insurance, and a personal vehicle; required to use a personal vehicle
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Preferred Qualification:
Licensed as a master’s level social worker

Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10 pounds

Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
Generally operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
