Family Counsellor

• Maximum Term till 30 June 2026

• Part-Time Opportunity, 3 days/week, 45 hours/fortnight

• Based in Geraldton

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Geraldton Family Counselling Service has been supporting the Geraldton community for over 20 years. If you are passionate about supporting individuals in a community service organisation, this opportunity is for you. A part time Family Counsellor role is available working 45 hours per fortnight. This role will include providing counselling support to individuals, couples, and families who may be experiencing challenges in their relationships, wellbeing, or life circumstances. You will support clients to foster resilience, strengthen relationships, and promote positive mental health outcomes.

DUTIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Deliver evidence-based counselling to families, couples, and individuals.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and organisations (internal and external) to ensure holistic support.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case notes, and comply with organisational policies and ethical standards.
  • Contribute to program development, evaluation, and reporting to ensure services remain responsive and effective.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will be highly organised and have strong communication skills together with the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Social Work or Psychology.
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic models and trauma informed, evidence-based practices.
  • Experience delivering counselling to individuals, couples, and families, with effective case management.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Culturally responsive practice, adapting interventions to meet the needs of clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Organisational ability to plan, prioritise, and meet deadlines.

Role Requirements:

  • Able to work across other Ngala sites as required.
  • Possession of a current National Police Certificate.
  • Possession of current WA driver’s licence.
  • Possession of current Working with Children check
