Fall 2026 Production Engineering Intern

Department: Production & Test

Employment Type: Internship

Location: Hawthorne, California

Compensation: $30.00 / hour

As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience and work alongside talented engineers to support the development of lunar rovers and production processes. This program will provide exposure to advanced manufacturing and testing processes, mentorship from experienced engineers, and opportunities to develop practical skills in troubleshooting, process improvement, and teamwork.

What you'll do:

  • Production Assist with the fabrication, assembly, and testing of avionics systems, structures, mechanisms, and electromechanical components
  • Systems Integration Support integration efforts for rover subassemblies and fully integrated systems
  • Process Improvement Contribute to the development of tooling, work instructions, and process documentation, with an emphasis on improving manufacturability and enhancing vehicle reliability
  • Failure Analysis Help troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during assembly and testing
  • Collaboration Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (e.g., engineers, technicians, and managers) to ensure efficient and accurate production
  • Vehicle Testing Participate in vehicle testing activities, both on-site and in specialized facilities

What you'll bring:

Basic Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's or master's degree in a STEM related discipline
  • Engineering experience gained through coursework, research, student organizations, personal projects, internships, or other hands-on activities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using electronic test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, or sensors
  • Experience with eCAD software (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, KiCad) or mCAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks)
  • Basic programming experience using Python, LabVIEW, or a similar programming language
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or process improvement methodologies
  • Experience applying engineering principles in laboratory, project, or manufacturing environments
  • Experience collaborating on team-based engineering projects
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
