SSTE 575-02 Fieldwork Seminar I (2 units)
Moraga Campus: Meets Wednesdays 4:45pm-6:45pm on campus
August 20-December 18, 2026
This class builds on what students are learning in SSTE 550, Instruction Design I, and SSTE 550L, Instructional Design Content Breakouts. In this class, students will continue to be challenged as intellectuals and as critically reflective practitioners. Students will take what is learned and directly apply it to observations of their cooperating teachers and to their own teaching practices. Students will also be called to integrate what has been learned in their placements into their methods class. The two are not separate; rather theories, principles, classroom practice, and reflection inform one another in the praxis cycle.
Requirements to teach this course:
Subject area of expertise/credential should be specified in the resumé.
Experience teaching and utilizing the latest research-based strategies in critical pedagogy, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and/or funds of knowledge/community cultural wealth.
Effectively uses multiple pedagogical strategies including: community building activities; Socratic Seminars; heterogeneous groupwork.
Does not rely only on lecture and discussion-based teaching techniques in 50% of teaching
Has used alternative forms of assessment (performance, presentation, and/or multimodal) with secondary students and can guide teacher candidates in the development and use of standards-based assessments.
Masters degree, preferably in Education or the Subject Matter Discipline

2. Seniority of those who have not taught the course up to their average.
3. Seniority rotation above their average up to the maximum units allowed.
Candidates must perform all course-related work within the State of California.
Salary: $6,480 - $10,308 dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here
If the course is not assigned to a current qualified adjunct faculty member under the process above, it may be assigned to a new hire after the 14 day period for current adjunct faculty members to apply has elapsed.
