Job Description

REPORTS TO:           Recreation Coordinator 
LOCATION:                Varies

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Recreation or Child and Youth Care or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience working in an inclusive recreational/ educational environment with a persons with disabilities and/or special needs
  • Experience in developing and implementing recreational programs using specialized equipment as it relates to recreation.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR & AED Certification
  • Demonstrated safe work practices
  • Valid Class G driver’s licence and acceptable driver’s abstract
Assets: Any or all of the following:
  • Expertise in the area of adaptive and inclusive recreation
  • Member of Parks and Recreation Ontario
  • Experience with Active Net Recreation Software System
  • Knowledge of AODA and Ontario Human Rights Code
Duties:
  • Provide support and guidance to staff, participants and their families.
  • Develop and implement training content that supports inclusive recreational opportunities. 
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants of all abilities and backgrounds. Coordinate with local organizations, volunteers, and community partners to enhance programs offered.
  • Monitor program participation and collect feedback to improve seniors’ programs.
  • Complete all administrative functions for the FAIR Brant program including but not limited to program planning, ordering supplies, and ensuring a safe working environment
  • Responsible for the supervision, recruitment, training, development, and performance management of staff /volunteers working in FAIR Brant program.
  • Assist with the establishment and enforcement of policies and procedures for the Recreation Services Division as it relates to Inclusive Programming.  
  • To purchase supplies and equipment and keep current inventory for FAIR Brant programs.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation related to program activities.  
  • Monitor and manage, attendance, staffing and events.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including day, evening and weekend shifts.
  • Additional duties that leverage your skills and align with your role as necessary to support the County’s strategic priorities related to accessibility and inclusion.
Hourly Rate - $23.48

Hours per week:   40 hours per week July/August
                               15-20 hours per week September-December
