Job Description

The Product Diagnostic & Quality Center (PDQC) is seeking a Failure Analysis (FA) Software Development Engineer with strong expertise in software tool development. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, implementing, and maintaining end‑to‑end software solutions used daily by FA and Reliability engineers across global PDQC labs for efficient analysis of NXP products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, and maintain software tools (GUI and automation) to support Failure Analysis and Reliability teams
  • Collaborate with the global NXP teams to understand workflows, user experience needs, and technical requirements to ensure intuitive and efficient software tool solutions
  • Design and integrate software with lab infrastructure and equipment (e.g., ATE, measurement/analysis tools) and implement flow automation and data capture using relevant APIs and scripting

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent), with 2+ years of hands‑on software development experience
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python and Java, including data processing and automation; experience with Tcl and Linux shell scripting is an advantage
  • Proficiency with software engineering tools and practices, including Git/Bitbucket, branching strategies, code reviews, debugging, and Jira for issue tracking
  • Proven problem-solving and debugging abilities, with a track record of optimizing software solutions
  • Excellent English communication skills, capable of producing clear technical documentation and conveying complex topics effectively in discussions
  • Comfortable working in a semiconductor lab environment and collaborating with global teams across FA, Reliability, Design, and Test
  • Able to work independently, manage priorities, and drive tasks to closure

Programming Languages

Relevant hands-on experience with the following languages/scripting environments is an advantage:

  • Python (advantage)
  • Java (advantage)
  • Tcl
  • Shell scripting
  • C/C++

Tools & Software Experience:

Experience with EDA/DFT-related tools used in debug and diagnosis flows is an advantage:

  • Cadence PVS
  • Siemens Calibre
  • Synopsys Avalon
  • Siemens Tessent Diagnosis

Experience integrating software with ATE environments and related data formats (e.g., test logs, pattern sources such as STIL) is an advantage:

  • SmarTest 7, SmarTest 8
  • IGXL
  • STIL
  • Diamond Cohu ITE

The Failure Analysis Enablement Team, part of the Product Diagnostic & Quality Center (PDQC) within NXP Global Quality, develops and maintains hardware and software solutions that enable on-time failure analysis readiness for every NXP product. By supporting comprehensive product analysis from development through end-of-life, the team helps ensure top-tier product quality for NXP customers.

The FA Enablement Team supports PDQC locations worldwide, including Austin (USA), Bangkok (Thailand), Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Nijmegen (Netherlands), and Tianjin (China), helping drive consistent and high-quality failure analysis across the organization.
