
The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland Baltimore County is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and ambitious researcher to join the group.
The Faculty Research Assistant will assist in the implementation of scientific studies that investigate the role of the aging tumor microenvironment on melanoma progression, metastasis and therapy resistance. The research assistant will help with the day-to-day operations of the lab, carry out or assist other personnel with experiments, assist with collecting and analyzing data, and supervising the work of undergraduates.
Primary duties will involve mouse work, genetic silencing approaches, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry microscopy, and other cell and molecular biology techniques as well as laboratory organization and ordering.
The candidate will meet regularly with Dr. Gretchen Alicea to plan experiments and discuss results, and they will also be expected to present their data at group meetings. This position will support the laboratory’s research objectives by improving productivity and promote the department’s mission to produce high-quality research and help with undergraduate research training.
