Job Description

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Transplant Infectious Diseases. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Applicants should be board certified or board eligible in Infectious Diseases.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching Infectious Diseases fellows, residents and medical students as well as mentoring of masters level clinical research trainees, and course instruction.

Clinical responsibilities may include include inpatient weeks at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as well as outpatient sessions at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include designing and implementing observational and interventional studies focused on the identification, treatment, and prevention of infections in the transplant patient population. Scholarship is required in the clinician-educator track.

The major focus of this position is to further develop the Infectious Diseases Division's research program focused on Transplant Infectious Diseases. Development of a research focus on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infections in this population will build on an extensive clinical program in Transplant Infectious Diseases and be highly complementary to the research activities of investigators in other disciplines. Numerous opportunities to collaborate with current research faculty exist.
