Georgetown University in Qatar invites applications for one (1) open rank core faculty position in Health and Environment

We seek applicants with a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in public health and epidemiology, environmental science, economics, political science, geography, medical anthropology, medical sociology, international health law or a related discipline with demonstrated expertise at the intersection of health, environment, and climate change.

Applicants should demonstrate research expertise and teaching excellence focusing on interactions between public health, environment, climate change, armed conflicts and/or sustainable development. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the following dimensions of environmental health: Climate and health, environmental epidemiology, One Health, water, sanitation and hygiene, environmental justice, air pollution, emerging contaminants, urban and built environments, environmental policy, disaster preparedness and response, and/or food systems Scholars developing methodological approaches that integrate big data analytics (for example. refined exposure assessments) are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Successful candidates will hold a Ph.D. in public health and epidemiology, environmental science, economics, political science, geography, medical anthropology, medical sociology, international health law or a related discipline.

  • We are open to a variety of methodological approaches; the ability to teach undergraduate courses in environmental health, climate and health, environmental epidemiology, environmental research methods, is essential.We particularly seek scholars with dynamic and innovative research trajectories.

  • Scholars with expertise in climate and health, environmental toxicology and epidemiology, environmental exposure science, environmental justice, One Health, or environmental policy are especially encouraged to apply.Candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching and research, as evidenced by publications in—or potential to publish in—internationally recognized journals.

  • Scholars with expertise in the regional dynamics and impacts of climate change and/or knowledge of Arabic are especially encouraged to apply.

Application Process

Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2026, and continue until the position is filled. Applicants should provide a cover letter detailing teaching and research interests, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy (no more than 500 words), evidence of teaching excellence (such as recent student course ratings, peer observation reports, etc.), and the names of three scholarly references.
