Position Purpose: Under the direction of the Manager of Faculty Development, the Faculty Development Specialist is responsible for assisting in developing and implementing innovative programs to onboard, train, mentor, develop, engage, and retain the colleges collaborators with a focus on role alignment and professional development initiatives. This includes providing consultation and support services in curriculum delivery, strategies, assessment, and technology; distance education teaching modalities assessments and evaluations; assisting with faculty technology orientation, training, and ongoing development efforts; assisting in the development and implementation of instructional strategies, course materials, assessment techniques, appropriate integration of instructional technologies and best practices in higher education.

Responsibilities: Facilitate faculty development and enhancement of teaching skills and knowledge in support of the Colleges strategic plans. Design and implement programs to ensure institutional compliance with federal, state, and College policies and best practices. Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, multitask and complete tasks with multiple interruptions and distractions. Identify training needs, coordinate with subject matter experts, faculty members, and other collaborators to design and develop learning opportunities for faculty and collaborators. Analyze problems/issues of diverse scope and determine solutions. Provide support for existing online faculty and professional development offerings. Provide consultative support for functions during their training development. Advertise workshops and other events for online faculty and collaborators. Maintain a current understanding of faculty development research and trends related to online teaching and learning practices. Maintain records to track and monitor faculty progress and participation through new and established online faculty development offerings. Serve on College committees as appropriate. Plan, coordinate development, and deliver programs for faculty, including coordination of space, technology, speakers, and other program components. Facilitate online and on-ground learning experiences to small and large (100+) audiences. Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Compensation

REQUIREMENTS AT HIRE:

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, collaborators, and vendors. Advanced development and facilitation of a variety of instructional experiences. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and cooperatively as a member of a team. Experience working with faculty members in career development activities. Experience with faculty development in a higher education setting. Building courses in a learning management system (LMS). Masters degree or above in related field.
