Job Description

The Faculty Coordinator for Community College Leadership serves as the primary faculty liaison between the LaFetra College of Education (LFCE) and California community colleges. The position advances three strategic objectives: (1) providing faculty leadership for the Community College Leadership concentration within the EdD in Organizational Leadership; (2) strengthening academic pathways between California community colleges and LFCE, with particular emphasis on the Integrated Teacher Preparation and undergraduate Child Development programs; and (3) expanding collaborative partnerships that support academic collaboration, educator workforce development, and student success. Working collaboratively with LFCE faculty and administration, the Faculty Coordinator represents LFCE within the California community college system and identifies opportunities that advance the College’s strategic priorities.

The physical demands include the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 20 pounds occasionally. Clear verbal and written communication is essential, as the position involves frequent interaction with colleagues, clients, or external partners.

The noise level is generally low to moderate. The position may occasionally involve meeting deadlines or managing multiple priorities, which can require sustained focus and mental stamina.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide faculty leadership and academic coordination for the Community College Leadership concentration within the EdD in Organizational Leadership.
• Teach and mentor students in areas related to community college and organizational leadership, as assigned.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community college faculty, administrators, and academic leaders.
• Support the development of academic pathways between California community colleges and LFCE’s Integrated Teacher Preparation and undergraduate Child Development programs.
• Collaborate with LFCE faculty, administration, and appropriate University offices on pathway development and other academic initiatives involving community colleges.
• Represent LFCE at community college meetings, conferences, professional organizations, and related engagement activities.
• Share information about LFCE academic programs with community college partners and connect interested individuals with the appropriate University offices.
• Identify emerging trends, partnership opportunities, and workforce needs within the California community college system that inform LFCE’s academic programs and strategic initiatives.
• Perform other related duties consistent with the scope of the position.

• Earned doctorate in Organizational Leadership, Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, Community College Leadership, or a closely related field.
• Current or recent faculty or leadership experience within a California community college.
• Strong understanding of the California community college system, transfer pathways, and student success initiatives.
• Evidence of effective teaching at the postsecondary level.
• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across educational institutions.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Experience coordinating an academic program, concentration, or pathway.
• Experience with transfer, articulation, teacher preparation, or child development programs.
