The Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE) at the University of Michigan (U-M) welcomes applications for a faculty position at any rank (assistant, associate, or full professor) in all areas related to IOE, including human factors and ergonomics, operations research, and data analytics. Of particular interest are candidates whose research intersects with artificial intelligence (AI), broadly defined, and emerging technologies in sociotechnical systems. An ideal candidate will have a strong methodological emphasis (drawing on fields such as applied probability, computation, neuroscience, optimization, psychology, statistics, and social sciences) and a significant engagement with applications, including but not limited to advanced manufacturing, business operations, energy systems, healthcare, human-systems integration, and transportation.
Senior candidates are expected to have a track record of excellence in both research as well as graduate and undergraduate education and have a demonstrated ability to establish independent and externally-funded research programs in their fields of expertise. Particular attention will be placed on candidates who embrace the global outlook, leadership focus, and service commitment that are fundamental to the culture of Michigan Engineering.
