AcademicThis faculty member will provide supervision/education of residents and medical students within the department of Anesthesiology. Rank is dependent on qualifications. Instructor or higher.
Job Duties Outlined:
Provide 1:1 clinical supervision of residents and medical students or significant involvement with each resident when supervising.
Attend GMEC committees, conferences, etc. as requested by the Chair or Program Director
Participate in ad hoc GME activities.
Complete monthly resident evaluations within 1 week of the end of their rotation.
Attend educational sessions, - M&M conferences, Journal Clubs, visiting professors, etc.
Provide minimum of 2 didactics per year.
Participate in semi-annual Clinical Competence Committee processes.
Participate in departmental simulations and research activities.

Work Environment:
This position is .10 FTE.
Faculty member must be able to obtain hospital privileges at a KUSM-Wichita affiliated hospital (Ascension Via Christi Hospital or Wesley Medical Center).
Education: MD, DO or foreign degree equivalent.
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
Licenses/Certification:
Board Certified in Anesthesiology (or actively pursuing such certification if less than 4 years from the end of residency).
Work Experience:
Demonstrated didactic and intra-operative teaching skills.
Knowledgeable of ACGME residency requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Licenses/Certifications: Fellowship training in an anesthesia sub-specialty.
