The Opportunity:

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Factory Test Room Engineer for the Business Unit Transformers to join our innovative and forward-thinking team in Large Power Transformer Factory located in Maneja, Vadodara. In this role, you will lead the technical aspects of testing products in the Factory Test Room, including the definition, planning, execution, and analysis of testing processes. This position offers the opportunity to drive continuous improvement in testing processes, contributing to Hitachi Energy’s vision of delivering smarter and more sustainable energy solutions. You will be reporting to the Test Room Manager. Responsible for the technical aspects of testing products in the Factory Test Room, including the definition, planning, execution, analysis, and conclusion of testing processes. Troubleshoot issues, analyze test failures and non-conformities, and provide expertise on testing procedures and standards. Engage regularly with customers, technical experts, engineers, and manufacturing staff to enhance safety, efficiency, and accuracy while driving continuous improvements in Test Room performance.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Ensure that all testing operations comply with applicable industry international regulations (IEC, IEEE, CSA), company policies, BU test procedures, as well as ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 27001 standards.

  • Ensure that all testing activities adhere to company health and safety regulations. Prioritize and actively promote workplace safety by implementing best practices and fostering a culture of safety among team members.

  • Collaborate closely with HSE teams to conduct regular safety assessments and enhance safety awareness.

  • Follow BU HSE Test instruction 1LAA000050.

  • Collaborate with customers and project teams to define and understand testing requirements, utilizing client inputs to plan and sequence tests effectively.

  • Oversee and/or execute comprehensive test procedures to ensure products meet specifications, coordinating all testing activities from preparation to completion. Ensure smooth operations by responding to changes and resolving setup challenges.

  • Oversee the collection, recording, and secure storage of test data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards. Analyze data to generate internal and external reports.

  • Ensure the test equipment is used correctly and for its intended purpose by authorized personnel. Prevent misuse or damage. Ensure the equipment is available for maintenance and calibration to the responsible teams or external vendors at the required intervals.

  • Report test results and operational metrics promptly, maintaining accurate documentation for transparency and decision-making. Ensure availability of data to drive process improvements and ensure test accuracy and reliability.

  • Contribute comprehensive failure analyses to identify root causes of product issues, employing systematic evaluation methods. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and improve product reliability.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing testing processes and performance metrics to identify areas for enhancement. Collaborate with team members to implement innovative solutions that increase efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

  • Follow Factory Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Provide guidance and training to team members on testing protocols, applicable international testing standards, and best practices, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

  • Support the development of skills and competencies within the team to enhance overall testing performance.

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a testing of large power transformer, reactors role within a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of testing protocols, quality standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., IEC, IEEE, ISO 9001, ISO 45001).

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to evaluate test results and performance metrics.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct thorough failure analyses and implement corrective actions.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide training and guidance.

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
