Job Description

The Factory Service Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining, repairing, and supporting Sievers® analyzers and sensors used by end customers and International Third-Party Partners (ITPs) throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

This position is part of the Aftermarket Services organization and reports directly to the Factory Service Manager. The Factory Service Engineer supports a broad range of technical service activities, including parts refurbishment, instrument inspection, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, performance testing, customer communications, and telephone-based technical support.

The role supports the full Sievers® instrument portfolio, including products used in:

  • Life Sciences
  • Industrial and Environmental applications
  • Semiconductor manufacturing
  • Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analysis
  • Endotoxin testing
  • Bioburden testing

Daily assignments and priorities will be determined by the service forecast, business requirements, and repair workload.

Work Schedule and Location

  • Standard schedule: Monday through Friday.
  • Normal working hours: Start between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. and finish between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., as determined by the Factory Service Manager.
  • Location: On-site in Tatabánya, Hungary.
  • This is an on-site position; remote or hybrid work is not available.
  • Overtime or schedule adjustments may occasionally be required based on business volume and customer demand. Overtime is not expected to be a regular requirement.

  • Knowledge of cGMP, GLP, ISO, and pharmaceutical regulations is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are an advantage; English plus Spanish, French, German, or another relevant language is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Repair and Service

  • Perform diagnostic testing, repairs, maintenance, and calibration of assigned analytical instruments while following all applicable safety procedures.
  • Complete factory service repairs within established turnaround-time requirements, generally fewer than 17 calendar days.
  • Refurbish complex parts, assemblies, and instrumentation as required.
  • Provide equipment support, including general hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace in compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards.
  • Maintain current knowledge and required certifications for all applicable Sievers analytical products.
  • Accurately record inventory transactions and manage spare parts associated with the repair process.
  • Ensure all repair activities are documented in accordance with Factory and Field Service Repair Quality Operating Instructions (QOIs), cGMP, GLP, ISO, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

Customer Service and Documentation

  • Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with customers and Internal Technical Partners.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of customer interactions, service activities, and related documentation in the CRM system.
  • Ensure all records are traceable and maintained in accordance with data-integrity and audit requirements.
  • Prepare accurate customer deliverables, including repair letters, calibration certificates, invoices, shipping documents, and billing documentation.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer questions, concerns, and follow-up requests.
  • Support the achievement of high levels of customer satisfaction through clear communication and timely resolution of issues.

Technical Support and Administration

  • Collaborate with and support the EMEA Technical Support team to deliver a consistent, high-quality customer experience.
  • Provide remote technical assistance to customers and internal support teams, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues by telephone or other approved communication channels.
  • Assist with Return Material Authorization (RMA) processing, including customer returns and ITP shipments.
  • Support the preparation and review of business documents, including purchase orders, quotations, invoices, and related service documentation.
  • Use Salesforce, SAP, and other relevant systems to support service, repair, inventory, and customer-management processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Salesforce and SAP.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of business and billing documents, including invoices, purchase orders, quotations, and shipping documentation.
  • Strong technical, mathematical, analytical, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to service instruments and handle electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to learn and consistently follow company policies, procedures, quality requirements, and regulatory standards within a reasonable period after joining the company.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.

Education and Experience

Required

  • At least two years of experience in plant operations, maintenance, equipment service, or a related technical environment; or
  • At least two years of relevant education or training through college, military service, technical school, or vocational training.
  • Approximately one to three years of experience working with analytical instrumentation or similar technical equipment.
  • Approximately one to three years of customer service experience.
  • Approximately one to three years of experience involving data analysis, technical documentation, or service records.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred

  • Associate degree or higher in electrical engineering technology, electronics, mechanical engineering, instrumentation, or another related technical discipline.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, laboratory, or manufacturing.
  • Experience with automation controls and communication protocols, including MODBUS, Profibus, and analog signals.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, GLP, ISO, and applicable pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, French, German, or another relevant language.
