We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Factory Procurement Head to lead strategic sourcing, supplier development, localization, cost optimization, and factory procurement for our Operations Air Insulated Switchgear (OAIS) business.
This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and leadership capability to drive supply continuity, supplier innovation, cost competitiveness, and sustainable business growth. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Finance, and Sales teams, the role will be instrumental in enhancing the competitiveness and profitability of the OAIS portfolio.
We are looking for a results-driven procurement leader with a proven track record of delivering cost efficiencies, accelerating localization, driving supplier productivity, and building resilient supply chains. The ideal candidate will challenge conventional sourcing models, develop alternate supplier strategies, increase Procurement Value Optimization, and create sustainable value in an increasingly competitive market environment.
What will you do?
As Factory Procurement Head for OAIS Operations, based at the Arioli Factory, Navi Mumbai, you will be responsible for:
Strategic Procurement & Cost Competitiveness
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for key AIS commodities including cabinets/structures, mechanical assemblies, epoxy components, CT/VTs, meters, relays, and other electrical parts.
- Lead supplier selection, commercial negotiations, and contract management.
- Drive annual cost reduction, value engineering, should-costing, and productivity initiatives.
- Increase Procurement Value Optimization through targeted supplier productivity and cost-out programs.
- Deliver sustainable material cost competitiveness and support margin improvement objectives.
Supplier Development & Localization
- Identify, develop, qualify, and manage strategic suppliers.
- Drive alternate supplier development to strengthen supply resilience and reduce dependency risks.
- Accelerate localization of critical commodities and components to improve competitiveness, reduce lead times, and enhance supply chain agility.
- Build strategic supplier partnerships focused on quality, delivery performance, innovation, productivity, and cost optimization.
Technical & Commercial Excellence
- Demonstrate strong understanding of AIS products, manufacturing processes, and critical components.
- Partner with Engineering and R&D teams on localization, design optimization, supplier innovation, and new product development initiatives.
- Lead commodity strategy development, market intelligence analysis, procurement budgeting, and contract governance.
- Support Sales and Proposal teams in developing competitive solutions for strategic and large-value projects.
Digitalization & Process Improvement
- Drive procurement digitalization, automation, and analytics initiatives.
- Leverage SAP, ERP, analytics, and digital procurement tools to improve efficiency, transparency, and decision-making.
- Implement best practices in sourcing, supplier collaboration, and performance management.
Sustainability & Compliance
- Champion sustainable procurement and ESG initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, sourcing guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive supplier sustainability and responsible sourcing programs.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Influence cross-functional stakeholders to achieve business, localization, productivity, and cost optimization objectives.
- Act as a change leader, driving procurement transformation and strengthening business competitiveness.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
Experience
- 15-20 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management.
- Experience in electrical equipment, switchgear, power distribution, or industrial manufacturing industries.
- Proven expertise in AIS-related commodities, supplier development, and localization programs.
- Demonstrated success in delivering significant cost savings, supplier productivity improvements, and supply chain transformation initiatives.
Technical & Functional Competencies
- Strong technical understanding of AIS products and components.
- Expertise in commodity strategy, supplier management, commercial negotiations, and contract management.
- Strong knowledge of localization, should-costing, value engineering, and cost optimization.
- Proven capability in alternate sourcing, supplier productivity enhancement, and procurement transformation.
- Experience in driving Procurement Value Optimization (PVO) growth, margin improvement, and competitive sourcing strategies.
