Job Description


Our client is an established and rapidly growing manufacturing leader in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and liquid packaging sector. Operating a high-capacity, state-of-the-art facility in Perak, the company specializes in high-speed, automated production lines delivering premium consumer products. To support their next phase of operational scaling, they are seeking a highly competent operational leader to oversee their entire plant and manufacturing ecosystem.


Mission


The General Manager (GM) of Plant & Factory Operations will take full strategic and operational ownership of the Perak manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for driving production efficiency, asset optimization (specifically high-speed packaging technology), safety, quality control, and supply chain management. By aligning an electrical engineering foundation with mature leadership, the GM will foster a culture of accountability and run a lean, high-performing factory of over 400 personnel.


Key Responsibilities & Activities


1. Plant Operational Leadership & Scale


  • Daily Operations:

    Oversee all daily manufacturing, production, engineering, and maintenance activities to ensure volume and yield targets are consistently hit.


  • Large-Scale Headcount Management:

    Direct and mentor a cross-functional plant workforce of approximately 400 people (including over 200 dedicated factory and line personnel).


  • OEE & Asset Management:

    Monitor and optimize key operational metrics, specifically focusing on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of high-speed filling, packaging, and utilities.


2. Specialized Technical & Machinery Management


  • Tetra Pak Fleet Optimization:

    Serve as the internal technical champion for high-speed liquid packaging, ensuring optimal calibration, preventative maintenance, and cycle-time efficiency of
    Tetra Pak machinery

  • Electrical & Automation Integrity:

    Leverage an electrical engineering background to troubleshoot complex plant automation issues, power distribution, and electrical systems in partnership with the maintenance engineering department.


  • Process Automation:

    Lead upgrades, automation projects, and digital manufacturing transitions (Industry 4.0/SCADA/ERP system integrations).


3. Strategic Execution, Budgeting & Cost Control


  • Financial Stewardship:

    Prepare, manage, and defend the annual plant operational budget, aggressively driving cost-reduction and waste-minimization programs.


  • Capital Expenditure (CAPEX):

    Lead plant expansion plans, capacity sizing, and investment evaluations for new production lines and high-speed machinery.


  • Lean Manufacturing:

    Drive continuous improvement frameworks across the facility using Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies.


4. Quality, Compliance & Safety


  • System Adherence:

    Oversee the plant's Quality Management Systems (QMS), ensuring absolute compliance with food safety, ISO 9001, and local Malaysian regulatory standards (OSHA, DOSH, JAS).


  • Zero-Harm Culture:

    Maintain strict Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols across all production shifts.


Requirements


Education & Technical Qualifications


  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in
    Electrical Engineering

    or a closely related technical discipline.


  • Machinery Expertise:

    Mandatory hands-on proficiency and operational experience with Tetra Pak processing and filling machinery.


  • Systems Capability:

    Proven experience utilizing advanced ERP/MRP platforms for production scheduling, inventory, and cost control.


Experience & Leadership Profile


  • Professional Background:

    10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership/plant manager capacity within the
    FMCG (Beverage, Liquid Food, or Dairy packaging)

    sectors.


  • Scale of Leadership:

    Proven experience managing large-scale manufacturing facilities (headcounts of 200+ on the shop floor).


  • Language Proficiency:

    Fluency in spoken and written Mandarin and English

    is required to facilitate communication with senior management, HQ, and key business stakeholders.
