Job Description

Safety-Kleen, a Clean Harbors company, in Santa Ana, CA, is currently hiring for entry-level Facility Technicians to join our team! This position is responsible for performing a variety of labor, material handling, waste processing, and facility support duties in a fast-paced industrial environment. The successful candidate will work with both hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams while maintaining compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.

Work Schedule: Multiple schedule options available. 1st Shift ( 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM), 2nd Shift (12:00 PM - 8:30 PM), & 3rd Shift (8:00 PM - 4:30 AM).
Overtime opportunities may be available based on business needs; however, overtime is not guaranteed.

Hourly Wage: $22.00/HR

Work Environment:

  • Industrial warehouse and waste processing facility
  • Facility handles hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams
  • Exposure to strong odors associated with waste handling operations
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and manual labor activities
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors as operational needs require

This position requires the use of company-provided PPE, which includes respirator, safety glasses, protective gloves, protective footwear, additional PPE as required by task or work area. A respirator fit test is required and is completed during the pre-employment physical examination and drug screening process. Employees must be able to meet respirator fit requirements, including maintaining a clean-shaven seal area when required.

Employees working in positions with potential exposure to regulated waste materials may participate in the company's occupational health program. This may include the Hepatitis B vaccination series, which is provided following hire in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle, sort, move, and process hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials
  • Perform waste container handling, staging, labeling, and inventory activities
  • Load and unload materials and containers in accordance with company procedures
  • Inspect containers and work areas to ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements
  • Operate equipment and tools as trained and authorized
  • Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the facility
  • Assist with facility operations and general labor activities as assigned
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials, containers, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Follow all company, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and site-specific safety requirements
  • Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing job duties
  • Work safely in an industrial environment with exposure to strong odors and waste materials

  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and work on feet for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work any assigned shift

Preferred:

  • Prior warehouse, manufacturing, environmental services, waste management, medical waste, or industrial labor experience
  • Forklift or material handling equipment experience
  • Experience working in a safety-sensitive environment
