Job Description

Clean Harbors, in La Porte, TX, is looking for an energetic Facility Technician - General Laborer for our incineration plant location, who works well in a team and follows direction for the upkeep of grounds to include but not limited to mowing, weed eating, operating a forklift, general labor, special projects such as painting and repacking.

This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Work schedule and hourly pay are governed by the union contract.

Work Schedule (per CBA): Shiftwork schedule (4-12HR day shifts, 4 days off/on-call, 4-12HR hour day shifts, 4 days off/off-call)

Hourly Wage (per CBA): $21.30/HR

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
  • Performs multiple site-specific plant operations, including mowing, weed eating, forklift operation, band saw operation, waste repacking and general labor.
  • Follow and maintain all applicable Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures Ensures
  • Works under the direction of the Plant Operations Manager or equivalent
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Chemical and Hazardous Waste experience preferred
  • 6+ months forklift experience preferred
  • Mechanically inclined is a plus!
  • Able to follow direction and take initiative
  • Must work well in a team
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions (heat & cold)
  • Must be comfortable wearing proper PPEs
  • Must be fitted for a respirator and clean shaven
  • Must be able to lift to 50lbs, climb ladders, stoop, bend, shovel, sweep and stand for long periods
