Job Description

FACILITY TECHNICIAN

The Facility Technician performs a wide range of maintenance, custodial, and facility support duties to ensure company buildings and equipment remain safe, functional, and well maintained. This role conducts routine inspections and preventative maintenance, performs general repairs, coordinates vendors, supports event set-up, and promotes a safe, compliant workplace.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, works independently, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while contributing to continuous facility improvement.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Broad variety of duties associated with maintaining company facilities, office spaces, and shop areas

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure the safety and functionality of all facilities and equipment

  • Custodial duties such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and removal of trash and recycling

  • General facility organization and restocking of supplies

  • Coordinate with and oversee external contractors and vendors

  • Installation and maintenance of office furnishings and fixtures

  • Vehicle inspections, fire extinguisher inspections, equipment inspections

  • Transportation of items between facilities

  • Support set up and breakdown of furniture for company events

  • Utilize work order system for work assignments and to log activities

  • Identify and propose opportunities to improve facilities and equipment

  • Uphold safety standards and protocols, promoting a secure and hazard-free workplace

  • Specific COVID cleaning measures to ensure proper sanitization of high-use areas

  • Special assignments as assigned

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field

  • High attention to detail, detail oriented

  • Ability to work with both power and basic hand tools

  • Familiar with operating a forklift, scissor lift, and other heavy equipment

  • Familiar with loading, unloading, and driving with trailers

  • Comfortable working on ladders or other high areas such as on lifts or on rooves

  • Good mechanical aptitude, comfortable working with your hands

  • Ability to multi-task and comfortable performing a wide variety of tasks

  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks in a focused work environment and maintain high levels of efficiency without direct supervision

  • Proven ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

  • Lift 50+ lbs

  • Able to provide on-call support in case of emergencies or other off-hours issues

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications for communication and planning

  • Thrive in a small company, fast pace, dynamic environment

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5 or more year of experience in a related field

  • Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and guidelines

  • Ability to perform facility electrical and plumbing repairs and improvements

  • Experience with interior finishing work such as drywall, painting, carpentry, etc.

  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems
