Mission Statement of the Office of State Fire Marshal: To uphold the law and provide for the protection of life and property from the hazards of fire or explosion, to ensure the safety of our citizens in the constructed environment, to provide equal access to disabled individuals and to promote the efficient use of energy in commercial buildings. This position location is TBD.

The Facility Project Planner 3 is responsible for independently managing, coordinating, and overseeing complex facility planning, construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects for the Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM). This role will ensure that projects are delivered in compliance with building codes, procurement regulations, safety standards, and agency objectives. Duties may involve significant collaboration with architects, engineers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal leadership.

A bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design plus two years of experience in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design; OR

A current Louisiana license in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design plus two years of experience in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design. As a Facility Project Planner 3, you will perform tasks that are critical to the mission of the Office of State Fire Marshal. Some of the duties include:

  • Evaluating plans and specifications for complex new building construction projects, renovation projects, and building system installations statewide for alignment with state laws and rules.
  • Consulting with building owners, designers, contractors, and others involved with construction on alternative options that are in line with state law.
  • Preparing documents and evaluation reports for dissemination to building owners, designers, contractors, and building officials.
  • Authorizing permits of construction by parish and municipal officials.
  • Acting as project manager on construction of major landscape architectural, architectural, engineering, and other design (interior exhibits) projects.

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment

Work Schedule: Work hours may range from 7:00 am until 5:30 pm, Monday - Friday.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
