This position is for a full-time Facility Operator at our Baton Rouge, LA facility. The ideal operator will possess good organizational, time management, problem-solving, and housekeeping skills. He/she will possess a steady job history and be a person who looks for opportunities to learn new skills and contribute to making our facility an even better place to work.

Facility Operator Job Duties:
Load and unload product barges
Witness and monitor inbound/outbound pipeline shipments
Witness product storage tank gauging
Monitor process indicators, instruments, and gauges in order to detect and report any possible problems
Start pumps and open valves to regulate the flow of product in pipelines and storage tanks
Control and operate pumping systems
Signal other workers by telephone or radio to operate pumps, open and close valves
Plan movement of products through pipelines to product storage tanks and barges using knowledge of system interconnections and capacities
Operate control panels to coordinate, regulate and direct product flow according to process schedules
Read automatic gauges to determine the flow of product into or out of storage tanks and the amount of product in tanks
Read and analyze specifications, schedules, logs, test results, and laboratory recommendations to determine product quality
Perform routine maintenance activities for facility equipment
Complete and maintain required forms, logs and other paperwork necessary for product transfers, facility operations and barge loading/unloading
Physical requirements; must be able to lift 50 lbs and climb stairs on 40' tank.
Any special projects assigned by the Facility Manger.
Participate in the general upkeep and housekeeping of the facility. mowing, weed eating, cleaning, etc.
Requirements:
Mechanically inclined, able to work effectively with hand tools and be in good physical condition. Must have valid driver's license. Able to read and write well, be able to understand Federal Regulations regarding terminal operations and be able to complete required documentation. Able to interact well with co-workers as well as outside parties. Must have experience performing maintenance and repair work on light and medium level equipment. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions. Should have computer skills and be familiar with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams, familiarity with automation systems is desirable.
This position will require a mix of office and field work so the individual must be comfortable in both environments. This person must become familiar with facility manuals and plans as well as State and Federal Regulations related to those plans. This person must be able to work independently as well as being a member of a team. Ergon places a prominent level of trust in the person in this position.
