Clean Harbors, in La Porte, TX, is looking for a Facility Operations Supervisor to join their safety conscious team! This Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of plant personnel and warehouse operations.
Work Schedule: Shiftwork schedule (4-12HR day shifts, 4 days off/on-call, 4-12HR hour day shifts, 4 days off/off-call)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure Health and Safety is the highest priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while promoting a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
- Oversee multiple site-specific plant operations, including roll-off processing, drum processing, receiving operations, and Mix Building activities responsible for preparing batch feed materials for all three incinerators.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of facility receiving, waste acceptance, waste profiling, and material handling processes to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of materials throughout the facility.
- Receive, classify, profile, prepare, and coordinate waste materials for processing and incineration in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee the safe offloading and unloading of vans, roll-off containers, drums, and other incoming waste shipments while ensuring compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.
- Utilize waste tracking and inventory management systems to accurately scan, document, and track waste movements, operational activities, and end-of-month (EOM) inventory requirements.
- Supervise warehouse and operations personnel during daily plant operations, including nights, weekends, and other shifts as required by business needs.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and training to employees while promoting accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and ensure employees are managed fairly and consistently in accordance with contract provisions, company policies, and established work rules.
- Train and develop employees on operational procedures, safety requirements, permit compliance, environmental regulations, and job-specific responsibilities to support workforce development and operational effectiveness.
- Ensure employees comply with all Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), required training programs, environmental regulations, and company policies while holding team members accountable for performance and compliance.
- Prioritize safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence in all decision-making activities while ensuring employees understand the importance of regulatory requirements, company policies, and safe work practices.
- Prepare, review, and issue required work permits, including Hot Work, Line Break, and Confined Space Entry permits.
- Ensure employees understand and maintain compliance with all area-specific permit requirements and operational standards.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to verify compliance, identify deficiencies, document findings, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Work under the direction of the Plant Operations Manager or designated leadership representative.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment throughout assigned operational areas.
- Lead by example by fostering a culture of safety, compliance, teamwork, and operational excellence.
- Coordinate operational activities and provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support business objectives and operational requirements.
What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience required.
- DOT regulatory training and compliance experience preferred.
- Forklift certification and/or operating experience preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support daily plant operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in critical business and operational situations.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure and stressful situations.
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate workplace conflicts and manage challenging employee situations professionally.
