Description

The Kentucky State Police has a wide range of facilities throughout the Commonwealth including Police Posts,
Administrative Branches, Weigh Facilities, Headquarters, the Academy and Laboratories. Each require a skilled
hand and attentive eye to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance. The Facility Maintenance Worker II will be
responsible for the daily janitorial, maintenance and general repair required for an assigned facility and
grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide maintenance and janitorial duties for the assigned buildings, grounds and equipment
  • Make general repairs to the plumbing, sewage and electrical systems.
  • Make basic carpentry repairs to assigned facilities
  • Operate machinery and equipment required to complete duties
  • Assist skilled trade professionals when required

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail
  • Experience in carpentry, plumbing or electrical systems a plus
  • General knowledge of hand and power tools, maintenance equipment, and lawn care equipment

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
NONE

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
One year of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
NONE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
Must be 18 years of age.

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures. Must follow safety procedures, such as utilization of eye and ear protection, when utilizing certain mechanical equipment.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
