What you will do

Working within busy School environments, perform a variety of assigned Facility Maintenance tasks including scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled demand maintenance events. Apply knowledge, skills, and experience to work with the operations team and be able to work independently.

How you will do it

  • Receive, update, and complete assigned preventative and demand maintenance works orders within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) QFM.

  • Respond to and rectify assigned tasks in general facility services, equipment repair, HVAC (Heating Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry and more.

  • Source, plan, and organize required tools and materials for day-to-day tasks and projects

  • Be able to maintain inventory levels for assigned site(s)

  • Use building prints, schematics, and other available documents while troubleshooting system failures and work requests.

  • Solid understanding of building systems with an ability to operate a variety of hand tools and machines.

  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures and aligns with all company policies.

What we look for

Required

  • Completion of a two-year technical degree or equivalent and/or experience in a Facility Maintenance environment would be considered an asset but willing to train the right candidate.

  • Building systems knowledge including troubleshooting, repair and replacement, etc.

  • Requires in-depth knowledge of various maintenance fundamentals sufficient to look after service and repairs.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Daily reporting of site conditions is required.

  • Strong ability to work independently on tasks and as part of a team.

  • Working and operating knowledge of computers as well as Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, word, excel)

  • Must be physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to: climb ladders, operate machinery, lift heavy objects weighing up to 75 lbs, clean up landscaping and exterior garbage bins, etc.

  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean criminal record.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or similar setting

  • Experience with painting (interior and exterior), equipment repair and maintenance, plumbing, and electrical work

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Start times may vary, and end times may extend based on operational needs. After the training period, this role will participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend coverage.

Pay Rate: $30.21 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
